As a child, I believed boys had more freedom—a kind of ease in the world that I longed for but could never fully access. I was drawn to the way they related to one another: spontaneous, intimate, and unselfconscious. Their friendships seemed marked by a closeness that felt both reckless and safe, something I rarely saw mirrored in my own experiences. I often wondered whether I wanted to inhabit boyhood or simply understand the bond that seemed always just out of reach. This sense of curiosity and distance forms the foundation of my current series. Through painting, I reimagine masculinity as I perceived it in childhood—unguarded, connected, and free. While the scenes I depict are not drawn from my own life, they are shaped by memory, imagination, and my perspective as an outsider looking in. My work explores identity, intimacy, and the emotional landscape of youth, offering a quiet challenge to traditional representations shaped by the male gaze. By blending observation with invention, I invite viewers to reconsider how we experience closeness and vulnerability beyond gendered expectations. This portfolio reflects my ongoing interest in the dynamics of memory, belonging, and the spaces between what we witness and what we feel.
